Chris MacKenzie

Co Founder & Director

Chris is a Chartered Geologist (Geological Society of London) with over 30 years of global industry experience. He holds a BSc. (Hons.) in Geology from the University of Portsmouth, UK, and an MSc. in Exploration Geology from Rhodes University, South Africa.

Chris began his career as a mining and exploration geologist at the world-class Ni-Cu-Co mines in Botswana. He has maintained a keen interest in battery metals throughout his career, which also includes extensive exploration across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas for various junior and major companies.

Chris co-founded TSX-V listed Helio Resource Corp. (now Winshear Gold Corp) with Richard Williams and served as an executive director for Helio for over 12 years. His work there led to the discovery and definition of over a million ounces of gold at the SMP Gold Project in Tanzania and he was also successful in discovering the GoldKop gold system in Namibia, which was later sold to Osino Resources.

Between 2018 and 2020, Chris served as Chief Executive Officer of Manas Resources (now Turaco Gold, TCG:ASX), in West Africa. Peak Nickel was formed in 2017, and since relocating to the UK in 2020, Chris has focused his time on the development of the Rodburn Project.

Richard D. Williams, MSc (MinEx)

Director

Richard Williams, a British graduate geologist, is an seasoned corporate executive with over 35 years experience in mining, mineral exploration, and project financing globally. He started his career in 1989 as a mine geologist in South Africa before moving into mineral exploration in 1994 after completing a Masters Degree in Mineral Exploration at Queens University, Canada in 1993. From 1994 Richard’s career focussed on precious and base metals exploration projects in the Americas and southern Europe prior to co-founding Helio Resource Corp with Chris MacKenzie in 2001.

Since 2004, Richard has served as CEO and Director of Winshear Gold (formerly Helio Resource Corp), which initially focussed on base and precious metals projects in southern Africa before acquiring gold projects and shifting focus to Peru.

Between 2015 – 2024 Mr Williams also served as CEO and Director of Cornish Metals Inc and was instrumental in the acquisition of the south Crofty tin project in Cornwall from administration, raising ~ $100 million for the project, and listing the company on the AIM exchange in London. He departed Cornish Metals in March 2024.

Mr Williams brings technical, corporate, public company and financing experience to Peak Nickel.

Anne MacKenzie

Co Founder & Director

Anne has an honours degree in Development Studies (London) and postgraduate qualifications in Environmental Management (Sheffield University) and Business Planning (Rhodes University, South Africa).  She has three decades of experience working both in the UK and overseas in the broad field of community development in a variety of settings. 

Whilst working in head offices in UK, Anne was responsible for all aspects of the project cycle including strategic planning, financial planning, fundraising and monitoring and evaluation of major development programmes. Following this, Anne focussed on consultancy work with the ICRC and UNICEF evaluating projects and running planning and training workshops.

Stewart L. Lockwood

Non Executive Director

Stewart is a corporate and securities lawyer with over 35 years of experience. He has an LL.B from Toronto (1983) and an MBA (1985).  As an in-house counsel he handled the legal affairs of many public mining and resource companies, from the private investment phase to listing on major stock exchanges.  He was a partner for most of his career with his own corporate and security law firm, and was most recently ‘of counsel’ with Bennett Jones LLP at its Vancouver office.

Mr. Lockwood is past Chairman of the B.C. Securities Commission Security Policy Advisory Committee and is a past director of the Canadian Listed Company Association, the only association which provides a voice in the regulatory world for public companies.  Stewart also has extensive experience as a securities regulator and Chairman of the Junior Mining Committee of the BC & Yukon Chamber of Mines.

Michael Quigley

Non Executive Director

Mr Quigley has had a long career in the education sector where he undertook a range of leadership and management roles including Headteacher, Inspector and Assistant Director of Education for a London Local Authority. During that time, Michael gained significant experience of Governance at all levels and working with regulatory bodies. He had substantial and successful experience of strategic and financial planning and the operation of capital and revenue budgets including income generating business units.

Alongside his role as Director of PNL he is currently Chair of Governors of a large secondary school, and is engaged in freelance and voluntary work in Oxford.

Stephen Nicol

Non Executive Director

Mr Nicol is Ormond Mining plc’s nominee to the PNL board and is a mining engineer with a BEng (Mining) degree from the University of NSW in Australia, and +35 years’ experience in mining from operations, evaluation and development in various underground and open pit mines, including 13 years as MD and Project Manager of the company that identified, studied, designed, permitted, financed, constructed, and put into operation (2019) the Barruecopardo Tungsten mine in Western Spain.

Steve’s experience covers base, precious and specialty metals and diamonds, both open pit and underground mining plus concentrating and processing techniques, in addition to direct hands-on management of all phases of diverse mining projects from early-stage exploration right through to mine closure and rehabilitation.
